Geospatial solutions provider to support construction, mining and quarrying industries with on-board weighing technology nationwide.

Aptella announces a distribution agreement for RDS Technology industrial weighing systems that will see the company sell and support industrial scales for New Zealand’s construction, mining and quarrying markets.   

Pat Dougherty, owner of former distributor RDS Systems, made the decision to take a break after some 15 years in the business. As a result, and to give greater focus to the separate markets of construction and agriculture that RDS solutions are designed for, the product lines will be distributed and supported by companies that specialise in these sectors.

“Along with the support we have from our Australian colleagues who have been distributing the RDS range for some time, we have a team of experts locally with extensive experience in machine systems to ensure customers’ needs are well met,” he added.   

Former RDS Systems technical specialist Lochlan Hammond has joined the Aptella team. Based in Napier, Mr Hammond will provide support to customers in the lower North Island, whilst also assisting nationwide with his advanced knowledge of the product range.

RDS on-board scales are designed to provide accurate weight information to operators and site managers, using an easy-to-read in-cab display and optional printer. With a range of solutions to suit wheel loaders, excavators, telehandlers and forklift trucks, RDS Technology systems offer scalable, highly accurate weighing to reduce machine wear, fuel usage and wasted material.

The flagship Loadmaster Alpha 100 solution offers dynamic weighing that maintains accuracy in rough terrain, on slopes and at speed, whilst compensating for oil temperature fluctuations throughout the day. Customers can also upgrade to a trade approved system to enable transactions from the loader scales, along with options for a reversing camera to increase safety. Critically, Loadmaster is one of the only systems on the market to offer fully flexible interface capabilities to other software platforms, machine types and ERP systems.
